Combine the river, lake, and high country scenery on your peaceful escape to Thornton Riverbend Holiday Park. Headlined by direct access to the Goulburn River for days by the water’s edge, this park is just 10 minutes away from Eildon. Campers, caravanners, and well-behaved pets are welcome on sites, including powered, unpowered, and ensuite options. For a slice of luxury, the park has two- and three-bedroom villas available, as well as budget-friendly standard cabins and motel rooms.
Park facilities include a playground, bush kitchen, undercover electric BBQs, and three clean amenities blocks. There is a large recreation area with plenty of lawn space and a basketball court, or you can head to the pool zone with a shaded area and three pools (including one for toddlers). For great meals, head to the Rubicon Hotel just across the road, where you’ll also spot a general store, butcher, and petrol station in town. The park also runs occasional events like fishing competitions and fundraisers to foster community spirit with both locals and visitors.
Fishing and kayaking in the Goulburn River couldn’t be easier, and Lake Eildon isn’t far away to continue enjoying fishing, water sports, and activities. Explore the expansive Lake Eildon National Park, or head to Cathedral Range State Park to go rock climbing and hiking. Waterfall fans should visit the viewing platform of Snobs Creek Falls, plus there is an abundance of walking trails, cycling paths, mountain biking opportunities, and four-wheel driving tracks in the region. Drop into local wineries, twilight markets, and nearby towns. In Eildon, you’ll find a public swimming pool (seasonal opening, November to March) and a water play park. Alexandra is also only 10 minutes away from the park, and it’s a 20-minute drive to Marysville for winter tobogganing, skiing, and snow play at Lake Mountain Alpine Resort.
